 e COVID-19 pandemic\, rising inflation\, and Russia’s war in Ukraine\, hav
 e brought agricultural and food supplies to the forefront of policy conver
 sations. Many people believe that ensuring a fairer\, more sustainable\, a
 nd secure foodscape will require a bolstering of domestic food systems\, a
 nd they are critical of the hegemonic neoliberal policies that have encour
 aged trade liberalization in agriculture.\n\nThis talk will explore how Ca
 nada’s system of supply management in the dairy\, egg\, and poultry sector
 s has served as a bulwark against neoliberal policies and how\, by general
 ly supporting the system\, Canadian governments and citizens have accepted
  the idea that the state has an important role to play in sustaining rural
  populations\, supporting family farms\, and provisioning Canadians with l
 ocal\, affordable\, and stable food supplies.\n\nJodey Nurse is the facult
 y lecturer in ´ó·¢²ÊƱƽ̨’s Canadian Studies program.\n\nThe lecture will be fo
