On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, HBHL hosted a Mentorship Lunch that brought together experienced industry professionals and over 40 �󷢲�Ʊƽ̨ graduate students, postdocs and postgrads over coffee and lunch at the �󷢲�Ʊƽ̨ Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship. Mentors shared about their experience navigating the workforce and engaged in lively roundtable discussions with the mentees. Topics ranged from academia-industry collaborations and social innovation to technology transfer, medical affairs, scientific entrepreneurship and operational management.

The Canadian Council of Academics (CCA) has formed an expert panel to examine how Indigenous science can be supported to advance policy and governance in a way that achieves reciprocal benefits for all people in Canada. Using food sovereignty as a case study, the panel will develop a framework that can be applied across a range of policy issues.

More than anyone else, Marc Bieler (DipAgr’58, BA’64) has contributed to Quebec’s thriving industry centred on a small red fruit with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The Department of Bioresource Engineering (BREE) enjoyed a visit last month from David Saint-Jacques, astronaut and Deputy Director, Lunar Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency, and BREE graduate Chris Patterson. They met with BREE undergrad and grad students who presented their projects, highlighting links between their research and bioregenerative life support system goals for extended space missions on the lunar surface and beyond in the near future.
