The city has been hosting large-scale int ernational festivals since the late 1980s. The creation of the Quartier de s spectacles (2003-2008) has made it possible to take advantage of a conce ntration of infrastructure and extend the festival season to a sustained a nd diversified annual calendar. As part of this trend\, so-called 'off' fe stivals have emerged. Off Jazz was the first (1999)\, followed by OffTA\, Zoofest (or Off Just for Laughs) and others. Today\, many festivals includ e an 'off' component in their programming. What does this 'off' express? W hat do these 'off' events bring to festival culture? How are they position ed in Montréal's cultural life? What are their spaces and modes of governa nce? How do they relate to local scenes?\n\nThe subsequent discussion will be moderated by Nathalie Boucher\, of the R.Es.P.I.R.E. organization. Ple ase note that this event is in French.\n\nThe conference is free and open to all! Bagels and cream cheese will be served.\n DTSTART:20250121T163000Z DTEND:20250121T180000Z LOCATION:CA\, QC\, Montréal\, H3A 2M7\, CRIEM\, 680 Sherbrooke West\, 8th f loor SUMMARY:Ce que les festivals off apportent à la vie culturelle de Montréal - Lecture by Anouk Bélanger URL:/centre-montreal/channels/event/ce-que-les-festiva ls-apportent-la-vie-culturelle-de-montreal-lecture-anouk-belanger-362140 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
